Title: New 200X Microscope Camera
Post by: JMF on February 03, 2014, 08:43:09 PM
Just mounted my 200X Microscope Camera I got off Ebay onto my machine, here are a few pics.

I plan on using the CopyCat Wizard for some projects.

The pics of the quarters are from two different quarters, then there's a couple pics of a ten dollar bill.

Yes, I purchased the license for CopyCat and plan to use the camera to probe and also try to use it for parts replication.

I would suggest that you add an Xbox 360 to be used along with the camera.
Have fun .....

Yes that would be nice, I need to do some reading on adding the Xbox controller, I know nothing about it.

The XBOX 360, which is a handheld game controller, acts like 2 mpg's and can be configured numerous ways to yor liking.
So it easy to go from slow to rapid movement or just creep into position. This allows you concenterate on movement and is natural in use.
Thus it saves time when using Copycat to trace out an outline of the object.

Your quality looks nice. I'd hate to get a clunker.  :)

Thanks,

Does that camera allow for adjusting the focus and when done are you limited in the relief  ( distance from camera front to viewd piece)?
Besides magnification you also want some working distance. That's why I use a cheap web camera with manual adjustment along with a magnifying lense
and can get a good comprimise on the working distance.

Don't think you want to change magnification or adjust as that will change the actual viewed location........

FWIW,

My Celestron 10-150x digital microscope. Got it at Fry's Electronics ~$60.00
I epoxied the included plastic clamp to the housing for rigidity, removed the ball swivel from the 1/4"-20 hole, made a bracket & 1/4"-20 thumb screw.
The resolution is phenomenal, focus is a breeze, and the added bonus is that there's a ring of white LEDs built into the housing. Plugs into the USB with some easy-peasy capture software, and voila!

Part clearance. You want enough resolution / magnifaction for accuracy and at the same time you want the field of view to be big enough
so you can see what or where your at. The working distance is fixed since if you were to change the Z axis heigth you won't be viewing the exact same spot.
The Xbox plug in allows the view to be reversed or show the image erect.

So I am assuming there is some type of addon for Mach3 for the XBox 360 controller, I'll do some searching.
It sounds really cool.

  Thanks,
