Hi: all
I am posting these file for two reasons. First is a thank you to all the folks that have helped me in figuring out my hobby “CNC Machines”. The second reason is I would like to see how useful these groups of files are. I have included two jpg files. Both images were created with Vcarve pro one is an image of the chucks deer engraving, the second an image of the tool information.
There are three (.txt). G code files these files work with mach3 and are meant to be used with a ½” 90 degree router bit. These G code file are what this posting is about. They are three different sizes of the chucks deer engraving. The tool and feed speed are described in the jpg file Tool info. The engraving should look like the jpg image chucks deer when complete. The tool origin is center of image size with the tool just touching the material. I have also included a DXF file of chucks deer and a Vcarve file.
What I am trying to accomplish is to see if a CNC hobbyist can make use of this group of files. I would like to give other guys like me the opportunity to create v carve engravings without dropping $700 for VCarve pro.
The DXF image Chucks Deer was a created by me. I copied the image from a little drawing I found wile going thru some of my dad’s stuff after he passed away. His Name was Chuck if you haven’t guessed.
Anyone is welcome to use these files for whatever they would like. I do not guarantee these files in any fashion what so ever. You use these files at your own risk. I would highly suggest if you try out the G code file on your mach3 machine. You should perform a dry run with the spindle elevated off of your cutting surface and your spindle not running.
Have fun let me know if these files were useful.

more files for u

Hi
I see several people have downloaded some of my files. I hope you have made good use of them. Please give me some input, did the g code files work with your machine, was the dxf file of any use, that kind of thing.
If I find the files useful to cnc hobbyist I will post more of my artwork in the form of g code and dxf files. Please let me know.

helllo maybe some one can help with i am making a 2x8 diy cnc router the stepper motor (controlers ) i want to install in the back gantryall of the motors are mounted in or on the gantry. i ordered in some MOV to stop surge or noise interuption i wished i could tell u i know what im doing but i dont b the question is is putting the Motor controllers in the back of the gantry ok or very bad idea mike

i have seen some high end motion control systems with the controller actually mounted on the stepper motor. Hope that helped.

Thanks for the deer carvings. I'll give one a whirl tonight.
-
Thanks, Just came across this and I'll cut it tomorrow.

Chris,
I'm very new to this and only completed my machine about 3 weeks ago. I downloaded the gcode and spent a couple of hours playing with it to make it work on my machine. Well, after discovering work offsets, the code ran great and the carving came out great. I will be trying the larger ones soon. Can't thank you enough as this was a great learning experience. Hope you get the time to put some more out for us to try.

I used this as drink coasters, thanks for the file!

Excellent work IBB ;)

I put comments in the gcode file for tooling. Giving back to those I have learned from.
This was cut in MDF so I could test my entire gcode file. I haven't figured out offsets yet so I use G92 and G92.1 instead. Either way it works.
These are the comments I put in the gcode file:
(Deer drink coasters)
(chucks v-carve pro deer, Artsoft.com)
(Material 10"x10"x.5000)
(1st tool 60* vbit)
(2nd tool 1/4" end mill)
(Zero at lower left corner of material)
(move to X2.25, Y2.25 and rezero)
(Z0=top of material)
10x10 isn't necessary as you can tell by the pictures. 9.5x9.5 will suffice.
If anyone wants to help me figure out offsets, I'm all ears.

ibb, what program do you use to down size the deer? i was thinking of making some coasters out of 3.25 dia. aluminum with a rope boarder on the outside edge. the total id. counter bore is 2.875 x.o84 deep. thats where the deer will be placed. just wondering. thanks. tom

I opened the DXF in Autocad and scaled it. I'd like to get that rope border file if it's available.
-
thanks for the reply. the rope border is from vector art. i am not sure if it will work on anyother program than theirs. it is a 3vm. their program is free. its called 3vm machinist and then you have to purchace the models. i am not to good at this cad thing but its a work in progress. i can't seem to load it in this reply either. i'll keep trying.
-
well i was able to down size the file. i used bobcad to do it and what a pain in the butt to get it done but it worked. i took a pic. of it and that ropr border of another part but i cant seem to load them on this reply. need some help please.
-
this is part of the venture.
-
Send the rope file to me as a file attachment maybe?

-
ok heres the deal. i talked to the guy at victor art and it is impossible to send it. but i can send you the g-code for the size you need. let me know what you want to do. i tried to send as an attachment but it came up with invalid image.

Has anyone else had trouble loading this file? I've tried 3 times in different formats to copy and load it to Mach3. I open the zip folder and load the text document, that's the only way I got anything. I get one deer and 4 interlocking circles that are too large. The start point is in the center of the deer. I tried to fix it in lazycam but I could only get the circles to load there.
I realize this is an older thread, it's just getting to be deer season in Ohio and I wanted to make these for a Friend.
Thanks for the code, I wish I could figure out how to put the screen shot up so you could see it.

Nice one ... thanks,

I noticed a few have down loaded the dxf's that I put up. that's cool cause I got a lot of help from this forum. just giving back what I can.
-
Thanks TJ, it is much appreciated.
Tweakie.
-
TJ,
I appreciate your making these files available.
Best Regards and A Happy New Year,

Your settings are wrong you are generating code in absolute and running in incimintel. Makes your arcs all wrong. Check you general settings.
-
Just thought I would say thank you. Your g code worked perfectly on my little 8.5x8.5 router setup. It was my first v carving and I am thinking about getting v carve pro and photo v carve and 3d in a bundle. ;D
-
Hi all. First time poster and new to CNC. I have been looking for a 3d rope file. Found and downloaded rope border rectangle.dxf . I cant open it in inkscape. How do i use the file and eventually get it to gcode? thanks
-
forgot to give my specs. xcarve using easle. I can use inkscape to convert dxf to svg and upload svg to easle for gcode conversion and sending to cnc. xcarve is arduino based so no mach3.

For those who have yet to purchase the Mach3 license and are running in Demo Mode I have re-worked the Chucks Deer Gcode file to get it down to just below the 500 line limit. To avoid duplication the Gcode file is included in the .zip folder here; http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,18345.msg126486.html#msg126486

Ran across this by accident and tried it out. Going to use it on my grandson's gun cabinet that he is building.

I just used it on a sign I made for a friend.
