Title: Power Supply Question
Post by: Overloaded on February 10, 2011, 12:15:14 PM
Hi All,
I gutted a piece of equipment from a financial institution and pulled this PS.
I've never seen one quite like this one.
110VAC in, says 28V out of the blue cap. (40,000uF, 40 VDC, Max surge - 50 VDC)
The gray cap says 3uF 660v. What is its purpose ?

How can I determine the MAX wattage of this unit ?
Thanks,
 :)

You will need to know the current it can deliver.

You cannot calculate the wattage only knowing the output voltage.

There's an AC capacitor and a DC capacitor for filtering DC output currant.

The output currant is more stable with the output capacitor, will prevent small ripples of voltage.

Hi Jeff,
   Thanks for the info.
No way ? I was hoping there was a way to determine the current available.
The voltage is probably too low for any practical CNC app anyway, I suppose.
To the dump !
Thanks again,
Russ
