Picture of your controller/SmoothStepper?

I would am on the list to purchase one of these.  Does anyone have a picture of their controller with the SS they could post up?  Having a hard time wrapping my head around how 2 parallel ports on the board are used, or if they're required to be used?  Can the drivers be connected directly to the SS?  It doesn't look like it from the pictures of the proto board I've seen.

Thanks Brett.  I guess I'm looking for some wires too, not just the board.  I saw one picture of an SS with 2 parallel cables plugged into it, but they went off the picture.  Do you have to have a breakout board?  And if you do, how does having 2 pports on the SS work?

As with the Parallel ports, the breakout boards are not a necessity. I do recommend them though. A note, check that the optos will be fast enough for your application. The ss can be inside your PC case if you choose and the cables would plug into it on one end and the other end would mount in the back of the case and look identical to parallel port(s) plugged into a PCi slot. Other types of cables can go directly from the ss to some popular BOBs, choice is yours.

If you don't use the breakout board where are the step and dir connections for the motor drivers?  That's what I'm not seeing in the pictures I've seen.  Do I plug in a flat cable, cut one end off and fan out the wires to the motor drivers?

You could do that. Have a look in the documents section of the SS forum. Not a lot there yet, but should be very soon.

As some have been requesting a photo of the Smoothstepper installed, I offer a couple of pics. If you have any questions, just ask. BTW I only received my SS yesterday so have only done some preliminary tests, but I could double the X, Y axis speeds without any problems.
My Z axis is still running slow as I still have to counter-balance the 35 Kg head assy.

The board below the SS is a Hegstrom USB36 decoder. I have found this to be the most reliable and easy to use interface to simulate multiple keystrokes on the pendant or panel.
