Quantum vs. G-Rex G100
«

Is a Mach3/G100 system providing the same benefits Quantum is made for?
I could not find any information regarding the 'quality' of the generated pulse pattern by the G100.
Welding is done of my frame.... I have all the linear drive parts, just ordered the drives, next week servos.... time to consider the way I finally attempt to implement the brains of the monster.
Cheers

Never mind... just bought a G-Rex so I can try that out myself.
I'll keep you updated.

I called GeckoDrive some months ago and was not impressed with their answers. Also the fact that a third party all be it someone very qualified but not GeckoDrive themselves is doing the firmware. I lack hope that it will ever do lathe threading. I decided to pass on the grex. I still would like it to become useful tool in the Mach3 armory. Drew

I picked it up as it is the only module I know of which will generate a smoother and higher frequency step dance for my servos. And of course... because of the cute beanie gecko you get for ordering it!. Besides that however, I also recognized the fact that the product does not seem to be the most enthusiastically pushed one in terms of development force. Would be nice to have a few quirks ironed out. But it seems that everyone having it is quite happy with it's performance.

Thanks Brett,
Are you running Quantum with the Grex.
I have got my mach running fine and I have followed the g100 plugin documentation with no results. Quantum does not recognise the plugin. It does not seem to auto install the plugin into the Plugin folder. I have manually copied it in from Mach3.
I am suspecting the GREX plugin has only been configured for Mach3.
I would like to hear from others who have a GREX and running Quantum

Nope, I'm running it with Mach3. I have not ran on the G100 in a while though. Will be a while before I could do any testing with Q and the G100. Maybe someone else will speak up for ya.
