Setup problem pwm mach 3
« on: April 16, 2016, 05:44:01 PM »
Hello!

I'm in the process to setup a pokeys57cnc but i got really stuck. I'm trying to setup the 0-10v output for the Vfd but got nowhere.
I have read the manuals but can't really work It out. I got one relay working as spindle on but the rpm output nothing happens. Can someone get me some Steps to get me in the right direction??

Hello Hafiack,
I can show you my settings.
The Multiplier was measured with a Laser RPM Meter.
But unfortunately it works just with one gear with my settings.
When i use another Gear with the respective the Spindle Pulley settings, i have to re adjust the Multiplier.
So for the most cases my Servo has enough power in this 6 Gear.
But maybe there is just an another option to use more Pulleys without adjust the Multiplier.

Thanks for the help!

I got it to start working sort of. My spindle goes up to 300hz and 18000 rpm but i only managed to get IT working from 87hz when i put in 5000rpm in mach3. When i put in 4000rpm the Hz goes up and not down but i gues i can live with it. The machine is for wood routing so Don't need to go so slow.

But i still have a problem. I get a maximum at 290hz but when the spindle turns on it drops to 225hz. And when i set it to 5000rpm in mach it only goes down to 160hz insted of 87hz it does when the spindle is on?? It's like the Vfd draws to much current or what is going on?

Nevermind!

I fixed it!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Now it runs cleanly from 4000rpm in mach and all the way up to max!

It's important to set the correct Pulley Ratio im Mach and the little potentiometer on the Board nearby the connector.

If you don't have any Gear reduction then there is nothing to do.
Just make a Pulley settings with min. and max Speed and Ratio 1
The max Speed is respective 10V at 18000 RPM in your Case.

It's just a normal spindle so no gear or anything. I have had it at one all the time.
But something feels wrong when the Hz change. It looks to work perfect when the spindle is off. 9000rpm is nearly perfect on 150hz at the Vfd and 18k is at 300hz but as soon i turn the spindle on at 9000rpm it goes up to 180-190hz??

Don't know if it's a setting in the Vfd? Running a delta E series Vfd.

What should the settings be in mach port and pins page? Base freq and minimum pwm??

thanks for all the help!

Since you are using the Pokeys PWM there is nothing to do on this PWM settings.
Only in the Pokeys Plugin PWM Tab.
Use 1000 Hz as PWM frequency (its a good value) and adjust the multiplier.
Here is a Topic about it.

The fine Adjustment i did with my Laser RPM Tester.

Disconected the shielding on the signal cable to the Vfd. Well What can i say, it works now!! :)
When i was testing yesterday i got to a multiplier at ,00276. I works really nice now when i disconected the shielding.

Thank you for the help!
