Assuming there are 3056 chips per square inch, and the bed is 72" x 12" and approx 1" deep, that would make 720 square inches @ 3056 per square inch
Plus a few thousand on the floor I reckon 2,219,320

WOW, I'm glad all of those chips aren't on someones shoulder.  Now, THAT would be BAD.

I did some quick calculations using a secret formula in an Excel spreadsheet and came up with 2,607,080 chips!  (And then modded it to conform to the hints)

And not one chocolate chip in the bunch.  At least there aren't any buffalo chips, either!!!
