Homing with the ncPod

I have noticed that when slaving A with X that all settings for A become redundant and it just follows X. (as it should most of the time)

Even reversing the direction of A in "homing and limits" does not work while slaved to X.

I had to reverse wires on A to get  one motor to run LH and one RH.

So my question is will Mach's homing strategy work where using two homing switches will "square the gantry" ?

Or will the Pod not be able to differentiate between the two axis ?

Did you try to test home yet, with switches on A and X?

No the machine I am hoping to use the Pod on is not quite finnished.    Almost but no switches yet.

If the Pod won't do this dual switch homing strategy, that will be a ball breaker for me and I will have to revert to LPT   

Just now I am getting all the wiring, cable management and electronics enclosure together, so hence my desire to know about the Pod.

Since I have a working machine, I'll do the test for you. I'll slave A and X and test homing. Cross your fingers.

While A is slaved to X, I can't get A to move during a home. Moves fine jogging but no movement for home. I'll try more tonight.

   Are your motor settings for X and A identical? I think they will have to be.

That may well be right Brett. 

But my tinkering so far indicates that once A is slaved to X then A settings are ignored and X setting are used for both.

And I may well be proven wrong here.   

That was what prompted my concern about whether dual driver axis slaving would work.

Well it is getting to crunch time for me.  I really need to know if dual drive homing is going to work.

Presently wiring everything in to my enclosure and need to know whether it is the Pod or an LPT breakout board going in there.

Bench testing sees that homing pins do not activate the leds on the diagnostics page. 

I suspect that there are some things that the Pod wants to do itself that are normaly done within Mach and it is always

going to be a compromise to get Mach to run it.  Really hope I am wrong here.

Any guidance from the gurus ?

Hang in there. I emailed ART today and it sounds like they are down to only a few things before they finish the POD plugin. Are we sure slaved homeing doesn't work? I wasn't able to get a slaved axis to home, but I didn't try very long. I'll get to testing again soon.
