This is a mirror lasered with a negative image like a lithophane.

Excellent work John.

Wait till Zoltan sees those  ;D  ;D

Tweakie.

(Just a note for others that follow - modern mirrors, depending on their origin, are almost always 'Lead-free' but precautions should always be taken to avoid inhaling the dust / fumes produced when working with all mirrors).

Hi, Dan, John may correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is a mirrored tile with beveled edges.

Really nice work there, John, very slick for sure-

Thanks Friends,

Dan, I used identical mirrors for both engravings.  They are sold for decorative candle bases.

As quickly becomes obvious if you try, mirrors are very difficult to photograph without distracting reflections, hence the first photo's appearance.  I had to take it at an angle and and convert it to gray scale to minimize reflections.

Thanks for explaining, John. Obviously mirrors are tough to photograph as I would have never thought the first one was a mirror.

Made some simple display stands today for laser diode engraved mirrors.  Red oak with clear lacquer.  Tomorrow I will laser a design and my logo on them.
