Nema 42 Steppers for sale

I have 5 nema42 2600 oz/in steppers for sale. They were made in the 80's. All run well. They are double shaft 5/8" on drive end. 3/8" if I remember correctly on the rear. 2 have dampers the other 3 don't. I ran them without dampers just fine. They were mounted on a Big Thermwood router. Attached is a pic of one of the motors driving a Enco turret mill that I used to machine steel with while mounted on the router. That was a 1:1 gear ratio and I could drive that head at 200 ipm rapids. 7 amp 78vdc 8 wire motors. There big and strong.
Price is $150 each or $500 for all 5. Plus shipping
Location is North Idaho.

Are these all the 8" long motors? I have a Thermwood 24 that uses the 6" motor for Z and 8" for x & y. I believe that all are the original motors and this router ran in a production environment for about 20 years, so it wouldn't hurt to have some spares.
A bit off topic, I would like to know a little more about your conversion. Did you replace the x & z thompson rails with profile guides (like your y axis)? Are you running the original Thermwood controller, or has it been upgraded? I have a Bridgeport R head (no quill travel) that I plan to mount to my Model 24. I expect to have to replace the y-axis thompson rails (the 24 has a cantilever Y / moving table design), but would like to get by without changing the x & z. Finally, I would like to use the existing stepper drivers and power supply with a Mach 3 controller. Old Thermwood electronics are hard to come by, but I have 2 or 3 extra driver cards.
Thanks,
Mike

These motors are 9" long. They are original Sigmas for Thermwood. Before I thought the rear end shaft was 3/8" its 1/2" and the drive end is 5/8".
If your interested and want them just eamil me with your address and I can quote you shipping. Or if your near North Idaho we can meet some where.
At first I only replace the Axis you see in the pic with hsr 20's. I call that the X but I have been told I'm wrong and its the Y. Later I replaced the Z with a 52" tall one so I could mill sideways bigger items.
The dovetails that are on there should work fine for the Z and work fine for a Bridgeport spindle. After all the original 4 12hp perske's seem to lift just fine on them.
I don't know if your drives will work. I got this machine after all the controls were gone. I used gecko drives and Mach3. I used the original power supply for it. It outputs 78vdc so the Gecko 201's or 202's work great. And there Microstepping. I don't think the Thermwoods were. But like I said I had no old controls.

Thanks for the pictures and the advice on the Gecko drives.
I'm running on the original Thermwood control, but it is no fun to program. My thinking is to go to the Mach3 control ipo the Thermwood cpu and keep everything else for now. I was a little concerned about having enough torque on the x & y drives with the Bridgeport head, but it sounds like it works for you. I will double check the dimensions on my motors when I get home tonight and let you know.
Thanks,
Mike
