How to read screen labels / text values in a plugin

Hi, can anybody tell me how to read the contents of the screen labels?  I need to know the gcode filename / path currently, but I may need other values in the near future.

I too am interested in if getting to text of a Label is possible.

Is there somethng like a GetUserLabelX ?

It would be a good feature to add if it does not exist
