For as long as I can remember, at least once or twice a week there are times when it's not working.

Twice today but don't know for how long. Would say around 6 times this week. Not too often around  5:30 am EST .

Downloads lock up Firefox.  That's been happening since as long as I can remember and on numerous PC's.  Downloads through IE work fine.

FF here and lots of connection problems here on and off for a long time.  Two different computers and ISP connections - cable and fiber optic - wired and wireless.  Regional issue?

The issues with the connections every now and then are nothing to do with ISP or region, its the server that is the problem. FF locking up on downloads I have no idea, I use opera and have never had a problem and it seems lots of others use FF and dont have issues with downloads either.
