after the crash!!!!

Hello there

while setting to axis position i accidentally crashed the tool into the rotating chuck

for some reason the emergency stop button didnt function when i hit it.

I did an emergency stop by switching th machine off at its power switch

after replacing the tool tip I started the  resetting home and the

axis DRO's but to my surprise ther arrow keys on the keyboard ( I am using a

flexible keyboard) are now functioning erratically ( sometimes wont jog in a direction until

i jog in a different direction- then it will jog again)

Is there any possibility that the program has became corrupted due to a "spike"

when i had the stoppage?

I thought that maybe the keyboard malfunctioned - but it does the same thing with
a different keyboard?

I am going to reinstall mach3 and try again

Has anyone had a similar problem or can anyone offer a comment??

there was a message on the diags screen-but i dont remember what it said something about

"reinitialization"  or "reinitialized"

It is only the arrow to jog the x axis towards negative

if its an open loop stepper based system then it cannot be the computer as there is no loop back to the computer from the electronics.  Mach 3 doesnt know the power was cut.

Is this a smooth stepper based system?  Even then there is no loop back, but the reason I ask is that I always use the ESC button on the keyboard for the STOP.  I never smack an EStop button.  If its a Smooth stepper based system, and you try and use the STOP or Pause buttons in Mach 3 then there is a buffer delay before the machine will stop, but the ESC should stop it instantly.  The ESC is located in a convenient place and I have been running them so long that its muscle memory to reach over and smack the crap out of the top right of the keyboard

In my opinion you should have an E-Stop and that E-Stop should be a hardware E-Stop and not rely on Software.The E-Stop can also inform Mach of the situation but should be foremost a hardware one.

well after closing down the puter,switching off everything and goind to bed--
wello this morning everthing works OK again.
