I have just purchased a new computer. There is no 25 pin printer port on new computers. I have found a 25 pin parrallel to usb adapter. will this work for pluging in to my geco drives.

No.  If all you have is USB, you'll have to buy a USB motion controller, like SmoothStepper, KFlop, Galil, etc.

or even cheaper if you shop around. I've tried about thirty different parallel port cards from £1.50 to £30 and all have worked.
