New 4th axis config
«
on:

Greeting.
This is my first post. I normally read through and search for an answer with great results. However I am stuck with a problem.
I finished building a 4th axis for my home built cnc router. It's all wired up and connected the the A axis on my bob.
I fired up Mach3 and immediately the 4th axis started turning while in the Estop mode.
The 4th axis will only stop after I reset the Estop.
Motor Outputs
A axis settings
Enabled Step Pin#9 Dir Pin #8
I tried the red X mark to disable the Axis, but this had no effect.
Could somebody please guide me in the right direction as far as the correct config?
Thank you all in advance,
Rod

sounds as if you have something wired wrong on the hardware side...
Double check the wiring from the break out board to the stepper drive ect.
If its wired right the motor CANNOT move unless it gets a signal.
Hardware?
Pics of the wiring?

Fixit,
Good point.
I reviewed all the wiring on the hardware side and everything looked good.
My Bob has 5 available connections for the x,y,z,a and x1
x,y and z are wired correctly.
I originally used the A connection for the 4th axis and this creates the problem I described.
I then switched it to the X1 connection and fired up Mach.
The motor does not turn, which is great.
How can I test the 4th axis by jogging it?
BTW, Thank you for your help

Press the tab on your keyboard and the flyout screen has buttons for jogging the 4th axis.

Hood,
Yes, I did that but it does not move the servo.
I see it moving only on the screen.
Here are some pics of my setup.

Have you got the correct pins assigned for the outputs you have it connected to?

Hi everybody,
First of all, thank you to everybody that chimed in.
I read the manual for my DMM technology BoB and discovered that if the charge pump is enabled in Mach3, the A axis will not work.
Since I don't have a charge pump anyway, it was a simple fix.
