Hi all,

I am James, just got a secondhand cnc router working manually and I can also send v-carve generated .txt files to mach3 and they run and cut.

Problem is that all data seems to stretch in height (Y-axis). if I do a circle in v-carve software it comes out as an oval when cutting on the wood.
I do a 20mmx 20mm square it comes out as a rectangle.

When I did a sign which was imputed as a JOB SIZE 100 x 250mm in v-carve the letters when cut were central to the 250mm but not central to the 100 mm height.(positioned high)

Any ideas what is wrong and how I can correct it??

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

James

Hi James, welcome to the forum.

1. Have you checked/verified that the Steps per Unit are set up correctly in Motor Tuning ?
2. Is there any Scaling set in Mach ?
3. Is the Vectric SW a legal copy ?

Thanks Russ , I have found the axis calibration function on the settings tab and will let you know results.
The scale feature I have not found yet, where am I to look?
The copy is licensed so shouldn't be the cause of the problem.

Cheers,

James

Scale is at the side of each DRO on the main page, if its set to 1 that is ok.

Russell, Got the hang of calibrating the axis and now the circle comes out as a circle not a oval! Thanks for the tip.

Hood, Yes the scaling is 1 for all axis on the home page. Sorted on this one now. Cheers.
