If Quantum is so good, why the Artsoft  people doesn't put all their effort to finish the program.  Huh

Because there's only one person doing the work, and he's currently spending all his time fixing bugs in Mach3 to make it more stable.

I noticed there are a few plugins for quantum next to the quantum dowload.  Does this mean that mach3 plugins will not work with quantum?  I ask because I have a mill with large servos and amc amps that I am going to set up next week with the DSPMC/IP control and mach.  The DSPMC/IP motion control has a mach3 plugin and I'm wondering if I should try using that with quantum or not.

Hello,

Been a while since I read some threads... Is there any "plan" to "plan" the S curve feature realization for the regualr MACH3 series? Or to Blend Mach3 with quantum?

I have a shopbot, albeit a heavily modified one.   I cut Adirondack chairs out of pine, which have both large and small parts almost all with some curves, both small and large.  When I set CV settings to give me accurate corners at 100 ipm, I get some some hesitation when the toolpath is cutting a longer curve.  The hesitations (notice I don't say jerks) are at node points along a long bezier in the drawing.

When I try to run faster, or with higher accels, I get bounce and innaccurate corners.  Some of this is due to the not-so-rigid gantry and other mechanical probs.  But if I can reduce the 'hard' cornering, I may be able to get more out of what I have.

I understand how CV works mostly, and it seems to me that settings that are good for small pieces and tight curves are not optimal for longer curves and larger parts in general.  Will Quantum do better?

If feedhold is not working (something I use often in Mach3) will STOP work?  When will Feedhold work?

Any other thing to consider when experimenting with Quantum?  Any known Estop or limit issues?  Will simple Mach 3 commands (go to, ref all home, resume from here, tool height, etc) work?

Thanks for any info.

This is what the official forum header states:

"Discussion about Quantum. Quantum is a dead project and not officially supported. "

If you get hesitation at those points your CV is not switched on. Check your G-code that you have it set correctly. It's 63/64 or something close. One G switches it on the other off. If your CAM generates the 'off' as default setting you can set what you want in the config and it will not work. I have a alrge router running Mach3 and have no hesitation. However, I am unable to get any angular settings to have any effect. I'd love to have the CV method NOT do any CV if the angular change is higher than X percent. It can be set... but it simply does not work.

There is a setting that turns CV off for corners greater than the angle that you set allowing accurate corners and smooth other moves.
