Rapids not reaching max speed
«

Hello,
I am running a 6'x11' router with 1000 oz-in steppers (dual x) using Mach3. I think I have a set up problem. My max velocity in motor tuning is 1000 in/min on x axis and 500 on y axis. When I shift-jog I get up to 1000 in/min on x and 500 on y.
However, when I am running from G code the G0 rapid moves are slow. Sometimes slower than the cutting speed. At first I noticed in general config that I has "Lock Rapid FRO to Feed FRO" checked and I thought that was it but there was no change in the behavior after unclicking it.
Any ideas?

what do you get if you enter G91 G00 X-20. into the MDI and press enter?
This will do a -20" move from wherever the x axis is stood so make sure you have the room to do it.

Hi Thanks for the response.
When I input that it goes -20" at 500 IPM.
Again, when I shift+Jog it in x it goes 1000 IPM. It just seems to be limited to 500 IPM when controlled automatically. Gotta be a Mach setting?

Hi Hood,
I appreciate your help. My experience with the Mach software has been fantastic and it is great value at the price they are asking. I realize that that's probably not what caused the issue at hand but I'm going to do that first and come back to the Rapids issue if it persists.
I wonder if I have to start over with all the settings after I reinstall or if I can use info from the old XML? I suppose it's mostly just the Ports/Pins and motor tuning but there are some other minor setting tweaks along the way that I had to make on order to make it work well and alas, I didn't take good notes!
Thanks

Your rapids were fine as I mentioned in the PM. Your Velocity for X Y and A is set to just under 500 so that is the most you will get unless you increase it. The kernel may need to be raised to get more but dont go higher than you need as going too high can cause issues on some computers.
