Engaging the brake
«

Can I adjust when the brake engages? In other words...
When I set the RPM below 10,800 and the cut ends...or I interrupt it...my spindle slows quickly. I can hear the brake engaging. BUT...when I set the RPM above 10,800...the brake does not engage and the spindle takes a while to stop.
I've searched the Drop Down Lists for the magic button that says...ENGAGE BRAKE AT...!...to no avail.
Have I missed it?

(;-) THat is NOT a normal function of MACH3. It is normally controlled by the VFD that controls the spindle. You may want to try lowering the Set speed in the Gcode to 10,500 (S10500) just before where you want it to stop quick. Fool the controller.
Just a thought, (;-) TP

Thank you. Here's the funny part...I'm not sure what that means.
DO NOT try to explain it. If it's in its simplest form...we're good. It's me...!
I will look at a few drop downs and try to find something that looks like what you said...but it's not a bid deal.
I cut all day today...again...it's not a big deal. Just asking.
Again...I like the idea...I can fool the controller...I'll look at it tomorrow.
Thanks.

MOst VFD will activate the Brake below a preset RPM. IF you are going faster then it waits until the level drops to take rpm and applies the brake.
On some units IF you are running at say 18,000 and the brake limit is 10,500 then you may be able to stop the spindle quicker IF you call a speed that is just under the brake limit say S10000 and then turn off the spindle M5.
Just a thought, (;-) TP
