Switching computer woes
«

Hi,
i have been running mach3 for several months, My computer is on it's last leg. I am trying to replace it similar performance but newer machine. The new machine has no parallel card so i bought the Roswell from newegg that was linked in a previous thread, installed it with the linked driver from the chipset manufacturer. I also copied my XML file from the old machine to the new install.
I have no output from the parallel card to the G540, I checked with meter on the pins, Also checked the parallel card with a LED driver program and it works, the address in Mach is set to the same one that works with the LED driver program. When I run driver test I get "pulses to fast". What is it telling me?
I am not a computer guy, I prefer to hit things with a hammer.
Any advise?

The cards that seem to work in cases like yours need to work without a factory driver, try reinstall with an ms generic driver first before hunting cards, the startechs from tigerdirect have never failed.

Sounds like the driver is not installed properly. Try deleting the driver from device manager and then running the driver test, the first time the driver test is run it will give pulsing too fast or similar message as it installs the driver, the next time you run it will hopefully be fine.
What operating system are you using?

No change. I get one quick flash of "Excellent system stable" followed by "Pulses too fast"
Windows 7 is the operating system.

Is it 32bit or 64bit Windows 7?

Should work then, can you attach a screenshot of your PCI ports resources page and also your xml.

Ok port address does seem fine from screenshot. Not sure why the drivertest is not working right. You dont have the ports set for the axis so enable them and see what it runs like if at all. See screenshot.
