Hi, I'm new to this forum, and new to positing so I hope this is the right category. Also I'm 61 not of the computer age, and am attempting to teach myself CNC.
I currently have a Techno Devinci that I use to make plastic templates for grinding moulder knives for producing wood trim. I have also ordered a new router that I will
control with Mach 3 that I expect delivery on in a couple of weeks. My question is can I control my Devinci with Mach3 to get a jumpstart before my new CNC arrives?

Afraid I dont know anything about that machine but if its step and direction and currently uses the parallel port for communicating to the PC it may be as simple as configuring Mach. If its not then it may be just a case of rewiring things or may be more involved.

You could load Mach on a PC and mess around simulating things if all you are wanting to do is get a hang of Mach.

Sorry, no can do! Techno uses a proprietary motion controller to operate the techno from their stepper interface software. The davinci also runs on a serial interface. The only way to make it work would be to replace the motor controller on the davinci.

I have found the techno control software to be horrible! I found a decent alternative that is called Kay. Let me know if you would like more info about it.
