Jogging & feedrate troubles
«

I've got my motors running, but I'm having problems with jogging & speeds. Yesterday the arrow keys on the keyboard jogged my axes fine, today they don't have any effect, I can use the buttons on the Mach3 screen, just not the arrow keys on the keyboard. Also yesterday I changed my jog mode to 0.1 step, to check that my steps per inch were correct & everything worked fine, but today I can't change the jog mode, in fact it is moving 0.1" every time I press the screen jog button, but the step LED is not lit for Cont Step or MPG.
Also, I'm having feedrate trouble. In MDI mode I write the line G20G91G1X-10.0F50.0, but while the machine moves in the proper direction for the proper distance, it only moves at 6.01" per minute. The FeedRate displays 20.0 but the Units/Min displays 6.01.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for troubleshooting these issues?

Ok Jog Control is switched off, switch that on and all should be back to normal, its middle of the screen at the bottom.

Well there is more wrong than just that, will have a better look and see if the problem can be found.

I had just figured out the jog switch too. That fixes the jogging issue, but I am trying to get the feedrate up. The motor tuning will only let me raise the velocity to 9.54" max. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong there?

You will have to increase the kernel to get more velocity due to the high steps per unit that you have, that is presuming the steps per unit are correct? You have 156386.2959 for it.

My reply earlier got lost somehow. Yes the 156386.2959 steps per unit is necessary for this application. The machine I am retrofitting has the steppers attached with 3:1 pulleys to gearboxes driving pinions on racks, for both the X & Y axes.
How can I increase the kernel?

Config Menu then Ports and Pins and you will see the options for kernel speed.
Dont set higher than you need as not all computers are equal and although some are happy at high kernel speeds others are not.
