I posted this over at the Yahoo site and got no response.
I cant believe it only happens to me. If it does please give some suggestions on how to troubleshoot.
Dave at MSM suggested posting it here

When loading a file I get this

Its random but persistent.
Its a short file. About 75 lines of code. When in does not hang it takes a
second or so to calculate path.
any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?

It's 3.043.37
XP home
MSM 1.17
PC is Shuttle X50V2 1.66 Ghz Dual core Atom
Thanks
Dave

Maybe its the G70 Mach is not liking, try G20 instead and see if that helps.

Hood,
I can do that.
Two questions.
1) I am using the Vcarve Pro Post. I think it is widely used. I will have ot change it.
2) I can load the same file many times. Most of the time it is fine. Every once in a while it hangs.
I don't see that would have anything to do with a G70. if it G70 would it not be happening all the time.?

Thanks for the reply.
I hope some others chime in.
Thanks
Dave

I dont know, I am only guessing and it does show that line in your screenshot that it seems to be hanging on. G20/21 is preferred according to the G Code list so it may be the issue but may not be.

It may be your thumb drive, I recently read that some brands cause problems copying files back and forth after the drives are a little older. Brand with 3 letters seemed to be the least trustworthy. Can't recall where I read it or I'd post a link. Made me cull my stable of thumb drives though.

Then again, could be something else.

I guess its not that. I have copied the file to the HD. I am running it from the HD. Most times it works. But not all the time.
Artisoft thinks its a computer OS issue.
Thanks for you suggestion.
Thanks

Sorry,

I meant the file could have been corrupted while copying to your thumb drive from your design PC or from the thumb drive to your machine controller. The article stated that could happen.

I would have thought that path generation occurred after the file had been read, and I find it hard to believe that anything in a text file would cause mach to lockup.
I assume from your description that you can load a specific file normally, but sometimes it fails?
If it's intermittent like that, I would have to come down on the side of a computer issue, RAM problem perhaps.
Does the computer lock up or is it just mach that's unresponsive?
