I currently running EMC2 on my Mill, I built a new computer for controlling the mill this weekend based on an atom board, and I thought I'd give Mach3 a try.
So I installed a copy of XP, and the Mach3 demo.
The convenience of the wizards has me considering changing over from EMC2.
Since I haven't used XP in years and my XP licenses all seem to have gotten lost/thrown out at some point I'll have to buy an OS either XP or Win7, which is the better OS for Mach?

Personally I prefer XP but some others run W7 and its fine for them. One thing to note however, make sure that, if you are going to be using the parallel port to connect your machine, that you have a 32bit version of the OS.
