Mach3 GCode line limit
«
on:

Hi there.
I've been using the 3.042 Mach3 trial version for a long time now and only today I noticed that I can not run more than 150 lines of Gcode.
I know that for the trial version the line limit is set to 500 lines!
This happens in Mach3Turn as far as I know because I didn't try the Mill version yet (I mean with a part code over the 150 lines).
My setup is Windows XP SP3 and KeyGrabber.
Can someone tell me where I go wrong?
Thanks in advance.

Really strange. And why?
Anyway that's the way it is.
OK. Post Closed!
Thanks Hood.

Because lathes use a lot less code than mills normally. Having a 500 line limit in Turn would allow you to do almost anything and I think the demo versions limitations are generous as they are

Yes, maybe....
But if you use LazyTurn as I'm doing, you will discover that for a simple object a lot of GCode lines are produced just to follow the object shape.
I was just trying to turn a new shaving-brush handle for my old brush (but very good) and the amount of lines was well above the 500....
Anyway, job done splitting the GCode file in smaller parts.
Bye.

Probably because your DXF is crap and made up of a multitude of short lines instead of arcs.

Good job, Alberto, finding a way around the code line limitation! Gee, if we had all thought of that, we could all have Mach3 for free! And then no money to pay for support, upgrades, and all those hard working people who deserve to be paid for their years of work. Nice.

Yes, I think the code was a crap to, but it worked fine to get what I needed.
This is the first time that I use LazyTurn. I usually go with the Lathe Wizards that are faster and ready to use.
I will improve my CAD ability trying to realize something else with arc and much more complex entities.

LT posted code will include all the toolpaths that are currently displayed in the Project info even if a toolpath is turned off. It's easy to edit the code
since the paths have a desription added but then you need to make sure that inital moves between the passes are appropriate. Will also note that LT
doesn't post code for a profile cut so it's all x & z moves. You can reduce the amount of code by having arcs in your CAD file and increasing the depth
of cut for the rough passes and minimizing the rough finish pass depth.
After trying Mach3 you should make up your mind if you like it and if so purchase it.
You will find out that there are other things that don't work in Mach if it's unlicensed.
