Hey All,

I recently purchased a three axis surfboard shaping machine and have had a tough go so far.  I have for 7 days read all that I can and now I surrender to those who are brighter than I.

My issue is this.

1.  It is a custom .set that has a button named machine setup.  When depressed it is supposed to send z to the home switch, then y and then x.  Then is should run out to the prescribed "set work 0 position" in the diagnostics screen.  It does not.  In order for this to happen you must zero the axes and the hit the "machine setup" button.

2.  Spindle shows as active on screen but real world it does not as well as you don't hear the relay click in controller box.

Any ideas.  I am sure it is a simple setting thing but after 7 days.....

Thanks

Do you have a link to documentation on the machine?

Hey Flood,

Lucky me!  You seem like the guy that knows.

I don't have a ton of documentation. It is a fairly simple three axies machine.  It uses a belt instead of screws and is driven by steppers at a 5:1 ratio.

I am of the mind that the code behind the Machine setup button is part of the problem though after a 12 hour day I am also considering the computer that is running it.  The fan runs almost continuously.  It is an acer pc with 1.5gigs of ram and a 3.2processor.  Not to shabby considering requirements for mach.

It is inexplicable the issues I have had.  I just tried to set up a "load material" configuration in the default sets and no luck again.

at this point I am looking for someone who I can pay and who can use team viewer or equivalent to have a look at the settings of mach.

Just heading out, will have a look when I get back.

Just to clarify, your axis all move fine when jogging?

Had a quick peak at the site and not really much info, in fact dont even see any mention of Mach. If indeed it is running Mach then kind of sounds like it has a custom screenset.
Can you attach the xml from your machine as that may help to see how its set up.

Somehow a post was lost but here it is again.

Yes there is a custom screen set for this machine.  In the Program Run screen there is a custom button called Machine Setup.  It should work like this:

Zero all axes
Depress button and zyx (in this order) touch of limit switches.
Machine then moves to Offset from switches which is considered home.

It does not do this unless I ref all axes first then it will move to the correct offset (or home).  When you run file it should lift z a bit and march out on x holding z at o.o (the first pass is straight ahead).  Instead of this result the machines heads back towards y limit switches and begins running straight out on x.

Mach seems great but it is a lot to chew on for the absolute newbie.

Pardon me I meant to say that it should move out on x holding y at zero.  This is a straight ahead pass.

The issue here is that it is a custom setup by the sounds of it and it is using non standard Mach features. That would suggest that the problem lies in the screensets code.
If you can zip and attach the screenset and associated bitmaps maybe the problem can be found in the code.

I actually was given two sets for Mach.  The bitmaps are the same for both.  They may even be the exact same Sets in terms of code but I am not there in ablitiy to know.  Either way here they are.
