First sign on my First CNC Router
«

This is a sign for the "Project SEARCH" program that my daughter attended this year. She graduates from the program on Thursday so I thought I'd make the folks involved with the program, a little gift sign for the house (the headquarters) they had refurbished through the year.
It's a metallic gold engraving laminate that I glued onto an ABS backer board to give it some heft and it 1/4 X 7-1/2 X 11-1/2".
The router worked just as I'd hoped, and I look forward to doing more projects with it as well. Still need to connect all the relays for the spindle and vac, but we all know how things can drag out when we're busy...
Thanks for looking,
Dave

Very nice work, really appreciate picture.
As far as finishing hook up every thing else, you know, this can take very long when you're doing more fun thing, like engraving.

Nice job Dave.
Was the figure vector pocket cut or did you do the whole thing as a raster ?

Thanks, fellas,
Tweaks, I used the pocketing option
I used this logo but unfortunately this was one that V Carve couldn't trace very well on it's own as well/fast as I could trace it by hand in VCarve. It's also a strange font so had to redo a bit of that as well.
It's amazing how fast you can get with a lot of practice.
Thanks,
Dave

Thanks Dave.
I am just starting out on VCarve so I have a couple of years of catching up to do
The reason I queried the method is because I engraved a sign, some while back, using a raster toolpath and the darn thing took all day to complete (using an engraving point with 0.1mm stepover)

Dave -
Where do you get the engraving laminate? I have not found any luck on the internet. I may not know what to search for.
Thanks. - Steve

Hi Steve,
"Traffolite" is the trade name of a laminate available in the UK. It is also known by many other brand names worldwide.

Hi, Steve,
That particular brand was Gravoply (made by Gravograph) but I have since moved away from them to Rowmark and IPI as Gravograph has been doing some pretty crappy things to their (good) customers like changing material types without notifying the customers in any way. In other words, they used to send me certain materials and when I needed to order more, they would then send new materials (by ordering the same part number) that didn't look, or even cut like the original material. On top of that, if you didn't want the new material, you could send it back on YOUR cost. Not the kind of company I will deal with so I've moved on.
Hope that helps-
Dave
