Analogue Inputs
«

Hi,
I was wondering about analogue inputs, what is the fastest and most effective ways to get an analogue figure into mach? I have a pokeys 55, but i read that the information is relatively slow to update, i have also tried a gecko g100, is ethernet faster or better than usb? Is there and easier way? i was interested in getting it into the serial port but there is no serial in.
The alternative is turning it into frequency, would that be more effective??
Thanks
Matt

I would think 10Hz is going to be the fastest you will get into Mach at the moment as that is the update rate. Anything that needs faster such as threading and probing I think are written as part of the driver.

How fast do you need? Serial modbus isn't bad. Ethernet modbus is faster, but as Hood said, it's only going to be as fast as the Mach3 scan time.

That is interesting,
so is my pokeys going to give me a rate of 10 hz? or is it too slow?

That I do not know, the analogue input for the FRO seemed fine when I used it with the pokeys. I now use an analogue module on my PLC and it is more stable but I cant say I noticed an increase in speed as it is plenty fast fpor a FRO.
What are you wanting the analogue input for?
