Hi, I THINK I set up my machine OK, However since I set the machine up some 4 weeks ago I have been using metric units on all the jobs I have done. Yesterday I did some model steam engines parts in imperial sizes. (no problem). Started the machine up this morning and got a reading the axis motor speeds were to fast. Looked on the screen for motor and the graph was off the screen so re tuned them bak all seems OK but the rapid G00 is much faster than before. Now I cannot get the machine to go back to metric units. Loaded a program with G21 on the first line, run the program and the machine moved 5 inch not 5mm. Any suggestions. Got a feeling I set the machine in the wrong units when I first set it up. Just for reference I have restarted Mach3 several times but it still moves in Imperial. looked on the general config and the lock DRO is not ticked.

Hi Hood thanks for getting in touch again. I have moved on a bit since putting the topic on. I have managed to get the motors and calibration set OK. Now when I manually (MDI) say put in a distance of 10mm the machine moves that amount, however when I put in a previously written program the machine moves but not as the program, its very small movements. I'm not sure how to send a XML but will try. I have all the setting written down so will load another application. Sorry mate for being a bit thick but computers are not my strength I'm a mecanical man as I have said before. Jim

Sounds like you had the default units set wrong and then set steps per unit to get your mm.
If thats the case then putting a scale factor of 25.4 in each DRO should run your old code.

Once again cheers mate, I will do that. Going to set up a new application as well. I promise to improve my computer skills and learn how to get the XML file for the next time. Cheers Hood.
