Can these servo drives be used with Mach3 URGENT

Hi all and a happy new year

Can these drives be used with Mach
I know I would need to change the step direction to anolog +/- 10v  , perhaps some tips on that?

I am new to servo drive side of things

Mach is Step/Dir output so you would need o use one of the motion controllers that can take Step/Dir and convert to Analogue +-10v.
DSPMC, Galil and K-Flop/K-Analog are three choices.

The short answer is Yes.

However, you will need a controller that can communicate with them, and output the +/- 10v signal, as well as read the motor encoders. I personally like the dspmc controller by Vital Systems. It is a very capable, state-of-the-Art CNC controller, and there is a specific forum section for it. Just scroll down the topics to get there.

The costs mount up verry fast in the servo area.

$500 pluss just for the boards , I dont realy see why they have to be so much more than large stepper systems.

What are you meaning by  "the clock cycle of Mach" ?

I do not know exactly the form of the information the plugin gets from Mach but Mach plans the trajectory and sends the info to the plugin and the DSPMC  controls the motor in relation to these commands.

If you have servo drives that can natively accept step/dir signals then there is no need for external controllers, if you have analogue only drives then there is.

As a relative newbie I value any input / help I can get

Is there anywhere to get used controller's as mentioned above, nothing at all on eBay.

I have allready made some mistakes buying useless "Bargains" and want to avoid that .

 certainly no bitching on my part, dont know why Chestermarine thought I was upset, obviously he has an axe to grind with me but what it is about I have no idea.


Regarding your drives then AMC also do the  type you would need http://www.a-m-c.com/products/dzr.html , should be others but all depends on the motors you have. Basically you want a drive that can accept Step/Dir input and are compatible with your motors.
