Mach 3 installation
«

Hi
I used my mill with a mach 2 program for a short time and now I installed the Mach 3 but I ran into some problems when installing...
First I copied all the settings from the mach2 (i think)
but now I wont get my mill to run? it seems to do the job on the screen but the mill doesnt move or turn?
I got all the limit switches runnining exept the emergency trigger? cant figure out why and if it has something to do with the machine not running...
And the mach 2 program wont run ether?
Any basic hints, any standard things that often are forgotten? Modbus settings??
I guess that its just one or two buttons to press...
Thanks

When you say you copied the settings are you meaning you wrote the Mach2 settings down then started Mach3 and entered them?

Yes thats What I did. But now in both programs the coordinats in the display counts when I press for ex the X key but the motors dont run?
Perhaps there is a harwere problem or can the program mess up any basic settings?

Star menu in Windows then Control Panel then System then Hardware the Device manager. In device manager look for your port and expand it then double click on your printer port then on resources tab you will see the address (first 4 digits).
In Mach go to Config menu then Ports and Pins and enter that address for Port1 and make sure you have Port 1 enabled.

Thanks Hood
but Since my end switches work the port should be correct...
But my E-stop dont work and that may be the reason that the Gecos dont have any power?
I dont understand why the e-stop stopped working when installing Mach 3? and very strange that my old Mach 2 dont work anymore...
Your quick reply made me chech your location, Scotland just one hour time differance...
I have friend in Scotland, Mr Spink he collects golf clubs, have you ever heard of any more stupid hobby :-)

Now I am thinking that it is most likely that its the E-stop
Inthe Mach3 dialog it says : "Reconfiguration estop"
when I first started Mach 3 the spindle started and and only stopped when i pressed e-stop but started when i pulled out theE-stop and that should not happen, but i dont remember if I did any changes in the set up after that, but I guess if the E-stop is incorrect then thegecos wont get power...
man I am pulling my hair!!!
But I will get this baby running...

Can you attach your xml, it sounds like you may have some duplicate pins set
Where does your friend come from? Spink is a common name in this area of Scotland.

I will look at the xml´s tomorrow, I am not sure what they are but i will find them.
Normally when I pug in the power cable the machine makes some small noices and you notice that it got power, and that is before you turn on the computer, but now there is no life in the machine when I plug in the power or start the computer, but I am sure it has got something to do with the E-stop
My gecos come to life when I manually activate the soilnoid that supply them with power, and if Im right the E-stop shut down the power to the motors by "hard wire" and also by the computer...
I visited my friend when he lived around Winchester but when he moved back to Scotland we lost contact...
Dave Spink he was in the oilindustri and in my young days he was going to fix me a job in Turkmenistan...
