Stepper and servo controlled by same controller?

My machine is servo driven X, Y, and Z with A slaved to X (Duel ball screws )
I want to add a 5 th rotary axes can I use a stepper motor or must I use servo motor

You can use servo or stepper or a mix of both. Mach just puts out Step and Direction signals and does not care what type of motor you have.
