thanks for that guys I will look into cambam. I think the os on my laptop may be a pain to change as its still under warranty

A lot of guys on here are router users so they will recommend cam that wont do lathe.
So you should look at cam that does mill and lathe

Just a side note. CamBam now has a lathe module that is in BETA testing and is part of the current download.

What I meant was, investing in a separate 32 bit machine for solidcam. A good used one can be found very cheap. Most likely much cheaper that any new software. I don't know much about solidcam, but if I understand correctly, it is a pretty good program, and integrates well within solidworks. Would be a real shame to toss it. Best of luck with whatever your decision!
