Hi , have a router with a normal on off type brushed router and its way too noisy.What are the alternatives? a stepper or servo? or a brushless dc ? does anyone make one with the collet chuck already attached? Have drawn a blank surfing the web so would be grateful for any help from you guys

A new router speed control is coming out in a few weeks that should let you run your router at much slower (and quieter) speeds while still giving good power. There's more info in a thread at CNC Zone, but it's forum has been down all day.

Hi, the new low cost controller seems to be the way to go but have just sent off for a proxxon router as it has good write ups regarding noise levels. May keep my original router and try it if I can get hold of this new controller.
