Save Fixture??
«

Yesterday I got my DynaMyte2400 up and running with Mach.
BIG THANX to Jeff Birt at Soigeneris and to Jeremy at Probotix for their assistance with retrofitting the mill and getting me some baseline config data!!
I'm using a SmoothStepper and a Probotix PBX-RF break out board to run the OEM stepper drivers and stepper motors.
To this point I have been using the pendant to jog the axes, measuring travels relative to the Mach DRO output.
When I shut down Mach the last few times I get a prompt asking if I want to "Save Fixture".
What is it asking to save??

It is asking you if you want to save the work offset(probably the default G54 )
There are two types of coords used by Mach, one is machine coords which most never use and then there are work offsets which 99.99% of people will use.
Heres an example, you home the machine this sets the Machine Coords to zero (in most cases) and then you jog where you want the zero position of your work to be and zero each DRO, that is you setting a work offset. When you shut down Mach it asks if you want to save that so that the next time you start the machine you home and then when you go to zero it will take you back to the previous saved offset position.

Thanx, Hood, that makes sense to me.
I've been zeroing the DROs and using a long travel dial indicator to compare axis movement with the DRO output.
BTW, do you ever sleep?

FWIW, Mach saves all the offsets, not just the default G54.
