OK,  I have never seen the G31 NOT run on the DROs except what is listed above but anything is possible.

Have you tried to reload MACH?  Possible corrupt file?    Ver .040 works ok here.

Ok, so I disconnected the probe.

went in to setup/imputs and changed the active high/low box and ran the wizard.

now G31 works!

What does this mean? was the probe mis wired? and not giving a fault?

turns out that if the metal body of the probe does not touch the machine (ground of controler and machine are same) then the G31 down in Z actually works.

So, I need to find a way to wire this renshaw TP1S so that it is electrically isolated from the machine.

The tp1 should be a 5 wire setup???  Term 4 and 5 should be the contact wires. There should also be a shield wire and 2 LED leads. THE 4/5 wires SHOULD be isolated from the case. Those are the ones you need to use. AND they are noramlly closed contacts.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

well, after much trial and error, it turns out that if I mount the probe so that it is not grounded to the mill, it works just fine. possibly, 4 or 5 is not supposed to ground to the probes body, but does...

Anyway, I just have to make a nylon bushing and all is well.

Thanks SO SO MUCH for all your help!
