Hey guys.
I have been following mach for about a year and i am ready to convert one of my wells index cnc 700's to pc control.
Any suggestions on the best version of windows to install mach with? This will be a dedicated computer for machine control only.

XP is the one I use but if I had to choose another it would be Win2K.

Also i have a second question. i am aware that mach is rather finicky about the computers it will run on. Are the older gateway pc's generally acceptable and compatible?

Mach tends to work fine with most computers. Ones to avoid are ones with onboard graphics and laptops. Not saying that they cant be used but the probability is that you will be more likely to have issues with them than not. If using an external pulsing device rather than the Parallel Port then there is normally no problem  with any type.
