Work on the mill got put off another day, because I had an opportunity to get a small lathe. I didn't really want a small bench lathe, but the price was right, it was practically brand new, and it was a whole lot better than the other lathe I don't have. Oh well, "carpe diem" as they say. I did see a few sprinkles of aluminum chips, some carbide tipped tooling that had been sharpened wrong, and a couple other "tell tale" signs that somebody obviously didn't know what they were doing, and lost interest in a New York minute. The date says 2002, but the grease from the factory is still covering everything, and lots of stuff still has the rice paper around it. Not even a scratch on the back splash. If it turns out to be a halfway decent lathe, I might CNC it in the distant future. I see Ron Ginger has already converted one, and Rich done the Atlas. Now I know who to ask for any questions I might have.
