when the first program is finished (g54) and rapids to the start of the second part it does this at z0. is there a setting to change or do i have to manually change thees values every time? And when i stop a nested program say 2 or 3 parts in how do set the machine to ref. from the original ref. point  (g54) .

What nesting function are you using? The Newfangled Wizards dont have nesting in them.

I am using the wizard that comes with mach3. I have answered my own question. I needed to set a 'safe z' hight. is all good now, thanks anyway
