I heard some PCI card didn't work well, so is there any good ones you can recommend? thanks !

I bought the motor kits including the breakout board at Motiotek, does breakout board matter?

I'd try the smooth stepper before trying to ho the parallel port route.  I've been running my mill off a laptop with a smooth stepper for a while.    IMO, it's way easier to debug a smooth stepper setup than to get a couple of parallel ports recognized znd working inside of Mach.

I second what Barry says Lucky, I have been using a smoothstepper for close to  a few years now and no problems as of yet and easy to hook up..

I'd rather spend $20 to try something rather than $155.

I've use  stuff from tiger, see below.

they all seem to work if installed corectly with newer msi mainboards and amd/ati chipsets any way, also most computers have the ports just no connector. look in the bios too see and just buy the header cable(s), they are like 10 dollars. msi has a less common pin conecter for the parrerel but easy to find.....

one other tip is if you need to put more then one board in use differnt manufacturers to keep irq conflicks to a minimum
