Save Settings

Obviously, I'm missing something
I can't seem to figure out how to save all my settings (motor pin allocations, limit switch conditions, motor tuning etc).
I choose "save settings" but when I try to "restore settings" and the program shuts down and I re-start it by opening "MyMill" file, I must re-set all parameters.
There's a trick here but I can't seem to find it.
A little help please.

Change your settings then shut Mach down and restart and they should be saved. If they are not then it would seem your xml is set as read only.

Don't know what I WAS doing but it obviously wasn't  that because I did EXACTLY that and everything WAS saved.
