Hi All,

I sell these kits for stepper motors. The covers are made from Acetal. Here is the item description I made up for eBay:

Note: From now on all the sales will be handled on the website

http://www.dyengineering.com

Back Cover Kit for NEMA23 Square Frame Stepper Motor

A neat solution to cover the stepper motor back side providing connector interface, motor wiring protection and rear shaft (if applicable) protection.

    * An aesthetic solution to a common problem
    * Connector interface for easy maintenance and setup process
    * For a professional looking machine

Features:

    * Quality made of a durable plastic
    * Easily mounts using the motor's existing screw holes (see installation guide for more info)
    * Provides IP40 protection
    * Suitable for both motors with or without rear shaft.
    * Incorporates a sleeve protecting the rear shaft of a motor from interfering with the wiring.
    * Each kit contains: 1 motor cover, 4 M3x25 mounting screws, 1 panel mount 4-pin connector and 1 mating cable end 4-pin connector.

There are 4 types available for holes configuration of the motor (the pictures show the motor as seen from the rear side):

                                   Type A                                           Type B                                          Type C                                          Type D

Price for each kit is $10.00 (can only accept PayPal)

Shipping up to 3 kits to USA, Australia, Canada and UK is $6.90. For other quantities and countries please contact me for the shipping price.

You can contact me directly at yosefi83@yahoo.com or post a reply here.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Thanks,
Daniel

UPDATE:

Had a few people asking where to buy these and whether I were selling them on eBay. Well, I used to sell them on eBay, but their fees are rather high so had to sell each kit for above $13. So I prefer to NOT sell on eBay any more. Just contact me to my email if you're interested. Hope my website will be soon ready and I'll move all the sales there.

UPDATE: (January 01, 2010, 02:50:09 AM)

I had a few requests for covers for NEMA 34 size motors and some other. While I have the designs for some of them, I don't rush to put them in production since I am not sure as to their popularity among the users. Therefore, I posted a poll on the subject, to help gather some info on the motors that are being most used. The poll is found here http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,13593.new.html#new

Those are so darned cool, I just had to repost about them on www.cnccookbook.com to help get the word out.

You should do a few more variations as well.  For example, NEMA34, as well as one in each size that is suited to housing an encoder on a '23 or '34 servo.

Very nice work,

Good job Daniel! These have been needed for a long time. Lots could benefit from these I think.

Guys, thank you so much for the support. It's really encouraging. I've put a lot of thought in how to make these suit most of the motors and have a satisfying look. I am so glad you find them good looking and useful.

Gerry, Bob, thank you very much for posting them for me on CNCZone and CNCCookBook

I do plan making some other variations of these, just needed to see if people like them and there's demand for this product. I have few other designs in mind and as soon as I see things are going well I'll work on putting them to life. Just figured that NEMA23 square frame was the most used motor, so thought that would be the right one to start off with. I'd love to know what are the other popular motors usually used by CNC builders.

Thanks,
Daniel

Will they fit these? They're a little bigger than a Nema 23, but the screw locations may be the same.

Gerry,

No, I'm afraid they won't fit these motors. The frame size of these is 3mm larger than a NEMA23, and even if the screw locations are the same, the part on the cover that's covering the wires wouldn't allow them to align with the holes on the cover. Also, the square wire header on the motor seems too big (do you know how much it protrudes from the motor surface?) and unlikely to fit in the wire cover - the undercut there is only 6mm deep in the centre. What is this motor anyway?? I mean what standard?

The cover would suit perfectly motors like this http://www.kelinginc.net/KL23H51-24-8B.pdf - note how the wires come out.
