What Keithmech said, plus:
Get you a screen captur utility, like Gadwin Print screen, or what ever. after you get your machine running, and tuned in.
Goto the ports and pins, and do screen captures of your set ups for Motor tuning, ports and pin choices for IO etc., since you cant
print that config stuff off, that way if your cheap comp dies....... you can redo your config.
Also: Make a Copy of your .xml, screen set (if customized), non-OEM: Macros, Macropump, Wizards, btmaps, plugins ect. and burn it to a CD (and for fun,
some other medium like a "Shop Only" jump drive. When the lightning hits, and your surge suppressor doesnt, or you hard drive makes that wrong
wurring sound, and then you get the "Nothing" ever again screen. You will be very, very glad you did.
Another thing is, if your machine is commercial to any extent, it is good to run a second hard drive and use a utility, like Norton "Ghost" or something along
that line, that if your primary drive goes, you can just put in a new drive, and run the Ghost backup, and it restores it all.
Macro Testing: NEVER use G0 when doing ATC testing............ set your rate to something you can get to the estop in time if you see your code or math is wrong like you made a stupid mistake. This is MUCH less expensive in dollars, only cost a little more time. the "Step through" function is your friend in
the VB scripter window.
Mach Screen (by Klaus), is hands down the ULTIMATE screen designer for Mach3 standard screens.
Paralel ports that you buy, and you click on it in device manager to get the address, and it doesnt show one, dont panic, some of those, will put
the resource ID in the Bus devices/composite devices.
Brians: If you ever make a new brain, or edit an existing one, make sure you ALWAYS hit the "Reload all brians".
If you struggling with Modbus, and/or the Brians IDE, then READ the "Brains users guide" in the Member docs
section.
If you want to know what a "Tosser" is, ask Hood, or talk to "ChaoticOne" directly....
